Use of a short belt conveyor as a friction stop at the end of a powered conveyor line is an inexpensive way to automate a weighing operation for UPS shipments. This configuration allows the UPS workstation operator to use a footswitch to control the feed of boxes onto a scale for weighing without having to lift each box. The belf conveyor pushes the box onto the scale top while holding back boxes upstream.
A ball transfer top on the scale allows easy movement of the box for scanning and labeling prior to pushing the completed box off onto a takeaway conveyor. If the existing scale does not have a ball transfer top, one can be added to most scales. |
